5.1 Calibration

5.1 Calibration is a 30 second audio test pattern to help you cailbrate your 5.1 system to best match the system on which Music-VR was mixed. By doing this you will be able to listen to the DVD in the way it was meant to be heard.

The first thing that needs to be done is for all five satellite speakers to be placed at the correct angles. These angles can be seen on the cover of the DVD case. Each speaker needs to be the same distance away from the listener if the speakers are identical. However if each speaker is not identical in size and power then the speakers should be moved along their angular path until the listener feels that every speaker is equally loud when seated in the optimal listening position.

The second thing that needs to be checked is the loudness of the LFE speaker. To have the correct amount of low frequency response while listening to Music-VR, attenuate the loudness of your LFE speaker until the pitch sweeping from low frequencies to high frequencies is equal in loudness from the low to the high frequencies. If the bass is booming then turn your LFE speaker down, but if the bass drops out when the pitch sweeps down then turn your LFE speaker up.

With your system properly set up you are ready to enjoy the DVD.
